Meardith Pooler-Burgess, DrPH Presents her Study on HPV and Cervical Cancer at the 2021 Society of Behavioral Medicine Annual Meeting

 

We would like to spotlight CTBScience Research Faculty member and Scale It Up Florida program co-director Dr. Meardith Pooler-Burgess for her research talk on HPV and cervical cancer prevention among minorities presented at the 2021 Society of Behavioral Medicine Annual meeting.

Dr. Ivan Balan to host Grand Rounds lecture at the HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Research

Dr. Ivan Balan, a Research Professor at CTBScience, is hosting a Grands Rounds lecture with the HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Studies at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University. His lecture is titled "A Dual HIV/Syphilis Rapid Test and Smartphone App to Facilitate Self-and Partner-Testing: Acceptability and Use Among Cisgender Men and Transgender Women Who Have Sex with Men" will be held April 22nd from 9:30 - 11:00am EST.

Dr. Daniel J. Dunleavy's Webinar: Identifying and Treating Opioid Misuse

 

Florida A&M University Cooperative Extension and Florida State University’s Center for the Study and Promotion of Communities, Families, and Children are collaborating to provide training on treating and preventing opioid misuse. This webinar is part of an overall Rural Opioid Technical Assistance project funded by a federal grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration.

Her extensive knowledge of FSU policies and her professional relationships have directly contributed to the mission of CTBS. Our ability to pivot was tested during the COVID-19 pandemic. Meardith Pooler-Burgess, DrPH Earns Meritorious Award for her Conference Abstract

Meardith Pooler-Burgess, DrPH, is a Meritorious Abstract award winner for her abstract submission to the annual Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM) virtual conference scheduled for April 12-15, 2021. Her submission titled "Cervical Cancer & HPV Prevention Behaviors among Minority Mothers" was chosen by the program committee reviewers to be highlighted as an on-demand presentation to the Research Talk and Research Spotlight sessions, available to SBM conference attendees for the entire week of the virtual event.

Dr. Julia Sheffler Receives the FSU KL2 Multidisciplinary Program Award for Early Career Faculty 

We want to congratulate Dr. Julia Sheffler for her Internal KL2 Award! Dr. Sheffler will be funded from October 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021 to support her work, which uses a pragmatic approach to examine the ways that psychology can improve adherence to a promising nutrition intervention for individuals at increased risk for Alzheimer's disease.
